Our Mission

Every task, meeting, and idea you bring to Black Girl Magic Day should connect back to this mission. This is the “why” behind your role.

Black Girl Magic Day exists to create safe, affirming, and inspiring spaces where Black girls and girls of color can grow in confidence, creativity, and self-belief.

In one sentence: We build confidence through creativity, community, and consistent support — and we center Black girls by intention.

Why We Exist

Too often, Black girls are overlooked, underestimated, or excluded from spaces designed to help young people thrive. Black Girl Magic Day was created to change that — by building spaces where they are seen, heard, and celebrated on purpose.

How Your Role Connects

Whether you’re working on programs, events, content, operations, or fundraising, your job is to remove barriers and create more moments where Black girls feel safe, powerful, creative, and supported. When in doubt, come back to this mission as your decision filter.

Black girls and girls of color, especially ages 6–15, along with their families and communities. We prioritize those with limited access to creative, affirming, and culturally responsive spaces.

We bring this mission to life through:

Reflection for onboarding: As you move through the next screens, keep asking: “Does this help a Black girl feel safer, more confident, more creative, or more supported?” If yes, you’re aligned with the mission.
