The program is launching in a pilot phase with limited capacity. The waitlist helps us manage enrollment responsibly and maintain a high-quality experience for participants.
Does it cost anything to join?
No. All programs are free for enrolled students. Participation is not dependent on donations.
What is the Afterschool Club?

Will there be a physical pickup location for Activity Kits?
Yes — for families who are local, we are working toward opening a community hub where Activity Kits can be picked up in person instead of shipped. Currently, all kits are shipped directly to families. Pickup options will be shared if and when a physical location becomes available.
Where will the pickup hub be located?
Our goal is to open a physical hub in Harlem, NYC, where Black Girl Magic Day is based. Details will be announced once finalized.
What will the Black Girl Magic Day Hub be used for?
The hub is intended to serve as:
• A local pickup location for Activity Kits
• An assembly and packing space for program materials
• A shipping center for mailed kits
• A community operations hub supporting programs and events

How is the organization raising funds for the hub?
We are pursuing grants, partnerships, and community support to fund a physical space. Fundraising supports program delivery, Activity Kits, shipping, and community access. Families do not need to donate to participate.
Does my child need to attend every session?
Regular attendance is encouraged, but not required. Session recordings are provided when available so participants can catch up.
Can siblings participate together?
Yes. Siblings are welcome to participate; however, each child needs their own Activity Kit to fully engage.
What should I do if my child will be absent?
Please email attendance@blackgirlmagicday.com at least two hours before the session. We’ll provide access to any available recordings and note missed activities.
Who leads the sessions?
Sessions are led by trained facilitators and guest mentors with experience in education, youth development, leadership, and community programming.
How is online safety handled?
All virtual sessions are password-protected and moderated. Parents or guardians must complete consent forms before participation. Safety and privacy are a top priority.
I heard every member will get a free laptop. Is that true?
Providing technology access is part of our long-term vision. While we are exploring partnerships and funding opportunities, families currently need access to an internet-connected device to participate.
Do families need to live in Harlem to participate?
No. The Afterschool Club is virtual and open to families beyond Harlem. A physical hub would provide an additional option for local families only.
How can adults get involved?
Adults can support the organization by volunteering, partnering, or supporting fundraising efforts. Participation details are available on our website.
